The first catalogue for Belmacz was printed as a newspaper. At the time the newspaper format was still rarely used in graphic design and the were no free newspapers everywhere littering the tube and high street. We felt that Belmacz needed to make a big and confident statement which lead to the idea of enlarging all jewelry and just showing it in black and white graphic shapes. Another influence came from African art which inspired the first collection. The newspaper was printed in two colours overnight at a large commercial newspaper printer.
